My first book, due out this year by The Wild Rose Press, was my first completed manuscript. After focusing on writing for a few years on contemporary Westerns, a non-writer male friend who read the rough draft encouraged me to pursue publication of it. Well, after an extensive rewrite, my first manuscript will be my first published book. I’ve recently turned in Book Two of the series and am working on getting some of the other manuscripts I have, published under my other pen name.
I was unable to read due to dyslexia and a learning disability until I was in the fourth grade, but I always had a story to tell. I wrote my first novel in eleventh grade when I had to keep a journal for my academic English class. Since my life was far from exciting growing up as a farm girl in West Central Pennsylvania, I decided to rely on my imagination to give me something to write about. Over the course of the school year, I wrote a tangled romance set in the Deep South during the Civil War. When I impressed my English teacher, becoming an author became my ultimate dream.
Despite holding a BS in secondary social studies education from Penn State University, I currently work full-time for the Department of the Army as a medical secretary. A mother of a teenage son and pre-teen daughter, I live near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, with my husband of nearly 20 years. If I’m not sitting in a quiet corner with my laptop, warm days can find me in the English garden surrounding my house.
