Friday Flames Welcomes Jenna Jaxon!

A huge welcome to Best-selling author Jenna Jaxon!

I met Jenna through my online writing and critique group, Rom-Critters, and we’ve been friends ever since.

Among the genres Jenna writes is Historical Romance and here’s her latest release!

EXCERPT:
Heart in her throat, Jenny stepped up to the imaginary line. A peep at Lord Somersby had been the wrong choice.
He stood relaxed, confident. Taking what looked to be a runner’s stance, he nodded to her.
“Are you ready, Miss Crowley?” Uncle Marbury asked, an eyebrow raised.
Excitement surged through her veins. Ignoring it, she collected her wits and nodded. Clasping her skirts in a death grip, she concentrated on listening for her uncle’s signal. She still had no idea if she could best Lord Somersby or whether she would allow him to snare her and claim his kiss. She took deep breaths, ready for the shout.
“Go!”
Jenny leaped forward, so intent on running her feet tangled together. She stumbled to a halt not a yard from Lord Somersby’s tall figure. Another awkward step and she would have sprawled at his feet.
His face lit up in a self-satisfied grin. He nodded almost imperceptibly, as if acknowledging a signal.
Did he think she had done that on purpose? That she wanted him to catch her? She had, in fact, set out to be caught, but that smug smile changed everything. Determination fired her spirit. She’d show him she had a mind of her own. Springing forward, she raced away just before Somersby launched himself at her.
Jenny squealed and pounded through the clearing, kicking up tufts of wet, dead leaves as she fled for the far side of the circle. She could hear her pursuer’s soft laugh as he drew closer to her. He’d have her arm in moments. Why not slow her stride and show him she wanted to be captured? Wanted his kiss?
Her steps faltered. How would it feel to have his body close to hers, closer even than in their waltz, his warm lips grazing her cheek? Anticipation stirred deep within. She slowed her pace and turned to face him.
The grin that lit Somersby’s handsome face spread so wide the lines alongside his cheeks deepened. His eyes flashed with a triumphant gleam and he stopped several paces in front of her then crooked his finger, beckoning her back to him.
She stood panting, suddenly unsure as her body trembled. The shouts and encouragements of the crowd blended with the roaring in her ears.
Somersby raised an eyebrow and stalked toward her. “You should have made it more of a challenge, Miss Crowley,” he said as he drew near. “Although I’m flattered you’re that eager for another kiss from me.” He reached for her to claim his prize.
Entranced, as though she were a mouse confronted by a snake, Jenny could only stand there, heart pounding with an insistent beat, watching him close the distance between them. In another moment he would take her arm, then his kiss.
A sharp movement to her side drew her attention to Alec, standing beside Celinda. He’d crossed his arms over his chest, his face puckered into a frown that somehow bespoke not only anger but sadness.
Somersby’s arms came up to snare her.

Is one kiss ever enough?

#MySexySaturday - Her Sexy Fantasy

Welcome to the 121stweek of My Sexy Saturday.

This week’s theme: Her Sexy Fantasy

Readers, please visit us at our new Author Central where we’ll share more from our authors besides Saturday’s snippets. We’d love to have you there as we’re starting things this week and hope to bring lots of fun and even some prizes along the way.

Today's excerpt comes from my Erotic Twisted Fairytale - CONTINUUM

“You’re so beautiful, Evianna. Your skin is perfection.” In today’s daydream, her prince would speak in a voice deep and rough with need. She lightly traced over her d├ęcolletage, imagining they were his fingers. “Each freckle and tiny mole.”

She liked her blemishes. They made her feel normal, as the village girls must feel.

“Alienated from society, sequestered away in that old gothic castle on the hill, you’re anything but ordinary.”

Through the filmy haze of euphoric bliss, her pert nipples strained sexy and hard. The company of the midday sun morphed into a lover’s luxuriant caress across her dampened skin. Her hands mimicked the hot fantasy, plumping her breasts and pushing them together, all while massaging gently.

Ambient sounds of the forest faded away. In the back of her mind, she wondered what she might look like while playing with herself in front of the imaginary prince.

One day, she’d like to try it and find out for real.

The prince watched her, urging with his sexy grin and suggestive eyes. “Touch yourself lower, Evianna.”

To comply with his royal command, she pushed on with her hands and touched between her legs. A jolt of pleasure lifted her hips off the rock and she planted her feet to spread wide for his viewing pleasure. Not wasting a moment, she slid off her panties and threw the scrap of satin in the direction of her dress.

Cowboys Forever!

Candlelight Vigil

Over the summer, I read a newspaper article about a dead raccoon found on a sidewalk in Toronto who received its own candlelight vigil, flowers, and memorial. Not to mention, a hashtag and free press! You can read more about it here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/07/11/dead-raccoon-memorial_n_7776856.html

When my children were young, we used to drive down to Ohio to visit family. It was about a three hour drive. My children didn’t have video’s to watch nor video games at that time. Poor kids, right?

So to keep them occupied we played the regular car games like ABC signs or State license plates. Sometimes, though we played… Name that Roadkill. Some were easy to recognize while others were just a guess. While it was a strange game, it did keep two kids occupied and me sane for many trips.
But when I heard about the Toronto Raccoon, I was a little ticked. I had already decided on using the roadkill to make a statement. Most people don’t even pay attention to roadkill as they drive on the roads, but millions of animals’ lives are ended by cars. I thought that if we dressed them up, maybe painted their toe-nailsit would make people take a second look and slow down.

Fast forward to writing Claiming a Cowboy’s Heart. I knew that I had to have my heroine do something this silly and crazy. Here’s a sneak peek at the scene where we meet the heroine, Michelle Alt and shows the poor animal.

EXCERPT:

With her floral shoulder bag hanging from her arm, Michelle Alt approached the dead raccoon. The smell overwhelmed her. Pinching her nose, she took deep breaths through her mouth. The full moon illuminated the intersection across from her school. People should learn to drive slower on this street. This time a raccoon, someday a child.

She squatted and dumped the contents of her purse on the asphalt. Removing the cheap dollar-store clothespin from her purse, she dealt with the smell and closed off her nose. The spring had just enough strength to press her nostrils together without hurting. With her hands free, she selected a yellow pair of sunglasses from inside her bag and slipped them on the raccoon’s face. A smile flitted across her lips.

“That’s a start.” Looking at the pile of junk sitting at her side, she removed a couple of more items, setting a red plastic cup with a paper umbrella next to the raccoon’s hand. Last, she inserted a small bottle of sunscreen between his arm and body then cleaned up the remaining materials, stuffing them into her bag.

It’s perfect. He looks like he’s resting in the sun. Another day at the beach for Mr. Raccoon.

How do you feel about the enormous amount of roadkill? What fun games did you make up while traveling?

Kate Matthews has a secret of her own, but she’s reluctant to share her surprise with Stephen. With her mate spending too many long hours and late nights at work recently, Kate begins to second-guess Stephen’s commitment to her.

Amazon | ARe | Kobo | iTunes | B&N(TBA) | Goodreads

Excerpt

Kate Matthews gaped at the small, plastic stick she clutched with a death grip. The frantic drum of her heart beat against her ribcage while her stomach churned in discord. A swift influx of panic, elation, disbelief, and fear bombarded her all at once, dragging the air from her lungs in a noisy whoosh.

Pregnant.

“Oh, shit.”

Reeling from the revelation, she stumbled backward to drop onto the toilet lid before her weak knees buckled. Unfortunately, she miscalculated the distance and fell in between the sink and toilet with a surprised squeal, landing in a squished heap and banging her head on the wall in the process. Temporarily rendered stupid, she simply sat there, wedged in the tiny space, gawking at the little strip of plastic glaring the truth at her.

“You all right in there?” her mate, Stephen, called from the other side of the door. No doubt he’d scented her distress.

Alarm whipped through her bloodstream, and the pregnancy test flew from Kate’s trembling hand to clatter on the floor in front of her. When he twisted the doorknob, she bolted from the floor and snatched the small stick from the bathroom tiles.

“I’m fine,” she exclaimed. “There was a spider.”

He twisted the knob again, and she sent up a quick prayer of thanks she’d had the foresight to turn the latch.

“Why’d you lock the door?” A mix of irritation and concern tinged his deep voice.
Frantic, she stashed the plastic strip in a box of tampons in the cabinet under the sink, certain he’d never look there, and then darted for the entrance. Once she fumbled with the lock, she tugged the door open and came face to chest with Stephen.

“I must’ve locked it by accident when I came in.” The excuse sounded weak to her own ears. Surely, he would think the same. They never locked the bathroom door, if she could get him to close the damn thing at all.

A frown creased his golden features. He watched her through narrowed blue eyes—attempting to decipher the obvious lie and cow her with his probing stare at the same time.

Drop it. Drop it. Please, for the love of God, drop it.

Monica Beggs on My Sexy Saturday @MySexySaturday

Welcome to the 118thweek of My Sexy Saturday.

This week’s theme: Their Sexy Gaze

Please visit us at our new Author Central where we’ll be sharing even more from our authors besides Saturday’s snippets. We’d love to have each one of you there as we’re starting mid-November and hope to bring you lots of fun and even some prizes on the way.

This week’s theme is Their Sexy Gaze. Have you ever seen a couple who look so adoringly at each other? Makes you wonder just what they are thinking? Are they thinking about the last time they made love or the conversation they just had?

The point is that lovers have eyes only for each other. Sometimes the gaze is loving, and sometimes not, but you always know they are a couple destined to be together.

Sexy has nothing to do with looks or status or even wealth. It doesn’t demand perfection and it isn’t pretentious but it does make us want to read those books.

We know that everyone has their own idea of sexy and we all love sexy!

Here’s seven paragraphs from MONICA BEGGS.

(Set-up: Monica has just been accosted by three members of the Colombian Cartel. They’re leading her out of a building with pedestrians all around.)

On her left, the excited fan with a football player’s build she’d encountered earlier slouched against the wall with his head down and a smart phone in his hand. Only he wasn’t looking at the black screen. He was staring directly at her.

Moni licked her lips and chanced a glimpse at the smelly man beside her. Roberto had stationed himself squinting into the sun, brows furrowed, waiting for his master like an obedient dog.

Dizziness threatened to shake the legs right out from under her. Now or never. Without moving her head, Monica slanted her eyes toward the ebony-haired giant, infusing all her fear into a single glance, begging him for help.

Stranger-danger never looked so good. The man shook back his sun-streaked raven hair, winked, and sent her a tiny smile. Then, as though he hadn’t a care in the world, strolled up to them, his eyes completely focused on her.

Oh shit! Did he think she was coming on to him? On a normal day he’d be cute, but not her type. The blond surfer with his lithe build was more her style. Monica hoped to God the linebacker didn’t mistake her for a hooker with a pimp.

Beggars can’t be choosers. At this point, she’d take whatever she could get.

His rapt attention never left her face, he completely ignored the man standing next to her. It didn’t matter if the stranger stood over six feet tall. He’d be stabbed and his innocent bystander blood would be on her conscience.

HIS PERFECT IMPERFECTION
(two copies will be given away)

Blurb:
An epic story of imperfect love.

Mika's a regular kinda gal. When she rents a cottage from Cain, she doesn’t know the sexual fantasies of women have made Cain a wealthy man. Once friendship plunges into desire, he won't allow her disease to stop him from teaching her passion and love are more than skin deep, and it will heal them both.

Flaming Excerpt:

Cain drew her into his arms, and she straddled his hips. His mouth circled her breast, and he sucked on her gently, his finger tracing her wetness. “You’re all mine, sweetheart, and I couldn’t be happier.” There could only be one reason for her discomfort. He rolled her onto her back. “Will you give me your innocence?”

Mika’s chest rose and fell with sharp shallow breaths. “You really want me?”

She sounded so surprised it made him chuckle. He had a thousand yes’s lined up, but it’d take too long to say them all. “Not just want—possess.”

Her finger traced his jaw. “You should be grossed out.”

The pout of her lips drove him to lean forward and follow the pillowy outline with his tongue. He kissed her, nibbling on her softness. “They’re just scars, they’re part of you, but I want all of you.” Gently coaxing her, he guided her hand to his waistband. Being a professional in the trade didn’t mean he could subdue nature. She slid his pants past his hips, and his shaft sprung against his stomach. Both of them naked, his breath became heavier with need. Where was his control? “Agapi mou.”

“Did you just moo at me?” Her brows rose.

He rubbed his cheek against her stomach, soft and warm. Molding his hands to her thighs he parted them, and brought his mouth to her mound. “No, it’s Greek.” He’d let her search out the meaning. Sliding his tongue slowly across her moist skin, he moaned. His erection strained to feel her heat, be buried inside of her. With rhythmic strokes, her passion grew.

“Oh my God,” she cried out, her hips rising from the bed with his ministrations.

The alphabet was an old technique he’d used for years, and she loved the ‘I’, when his tongue punctuated her channel. With ‘T’ her body melted, the cross made with the pad of his thumb and a stroke of his tongue. ‘O’ made her stomach tremble when his mouth covered her fold, and he sucked with quick little pulses until her fingers twisted the bed sheets into a ball.

He crawled up her body. Against the Egyptian sheets, her rich, dark curls surrounded her head. Grinning down at her, he kissed her nose and then her mouth. “You don’t have to be experienced, Mika.” She dripped with need, and he slid his shaft against her fold, gently rolling his hips. “You are all I need and we’re going to savor every second.”

“You come well equipped for your profession,” she breathed, her eyes glinting with flickers of mirth between little gasps of desire.

A hearty laugh burst from his mouth. Tipping his forehead to hers, he loved that they laughed in each other’s arm. “It’s yours my fair lady. No one else’s.” Rotating his hips, her moisture covered his throbbing head. For the first time, he would pleasure a woman he truly loved. Every moment they shared, they’d become closer, friends first, now lovers. The way it was supposed to be.

The embers died a little in her gaze. “You’d tell me the truth, right?”

He nodded. “I will.”

Her one eye narrowed. “Is this pro bono work or should I say, pro boner?”

His shoulders shook with laughter. The desire didn’t die, it got stronger knowing her first lover would be him. His thumb turned circles around her bundle of nerves, barely touching her, creating a fire of need inside her. “Making love isn’t a sprint, it’s a dance,” he said, teasing her with his tongue. Her beautiful body quivered below him, and he kissed her deeply. “And I’ve been waiting all my life to dance with you.”

“Have you taken someone’s virginity before or were they all amazing lovers?”

He grinned with understanding. She was throwing up diversions left and right. He wished he could tell her he hadn’t, but there wasn’t much he hadn’t done in bed. He brushed her nose, giving her the time she obviously needed. “I was hired a couple times to do that.” She smiled meekly at him. “There’s a difference, Mika.” Touching her tenderly, signaling to her subconscious she was safe in his hands. “I want to swallow the gasp of pain when I enter you. Every thrust will send us higher, bring us closer. I’m going to treasure the moment you come with me.” The fear receded in her eyes, replaced with a lick of desire. He gently slipped his finger inside her and felt the resistance. “I want to see the wildness in you, Mika.” Speaking to her in calming tones, he applied more pressure, strumming her, gently stretching her. He positioned himself between her tapered legs, and kissed a trail down the middle of her body, ending at her mound, sucking the sensitive tip gently. Teasing her, he swept his tongue against delicate nerves and her thighs relaxed.

“I want,” she whispered shyly.

“I know what you want,” he whispered back, the head of his shaft teasing her opening, his heart yearning to make her his.
